For the first time on this blog, I’m linking up with Leigh Kramer to share the highlights of my life in February. These are often some of my favorite posts to read by fellow bloggers, so hopefully you enjoy mine!
TV Shows:
Sherlock – I finally convinced Jay to watch the BBC series, Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. This show is a delightful retelling of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective stories in modern London. The casting is perfection and each episode is essentially a mini movie.
11/22/63 – Only available to my fellow Hulu subscribers, this mini series follows a man who is able to travel back in time and attempts to prevent the Kennedy assassination. I started the book, but abandoned it about 1/3 of the way through. Two episodes in and the mini-series is proving much more exciting.
New Girl – I was extremely skeptical of this season after I found out Megan Fox would be appearing as a new character to make up for Zooey Deschanel’s maternity absence. Luckily, she does a great job and the show is just as hilarious as ever.
Movies:
Kindergarten Cop – Get Back to the Carpet! It’s Not a Tumor! Enough said. This movie is hilarious.
Activities / Trips:
Women’s Retreat – Spending the weekend with my mom and a group of women from my home church while getting closer to God was amazing. I’m already looking forward to next year!
Bible Study – We hosted our young adult bible study last week and had a blast catching up with everyone. It was equally amazing that 12 people fit in our apartment. I felt like such a grown up hosting a dinner party : )
Outdoor Run – A whole seven minutes one Monday afternoon. The temperature reached 54, so I decided on the spur of the moment to head outdoors. Phew, I’m out of shape but it felt great to be outside!
Hair Cut – Yes, this counts as a big event for me. I always end up waiting at least six months to get my hair cut again because, well, I’m cheap and I always get super nervous beforehand. I found a Groupon for a local salon and luckily had a lovely experience. Plus, I got a 20% off coupon for my next visit! Win win.
Things I’m Loving:
Steak!! – Rather than going out Valentine’s Day weekend during the freezing cold weather, Jay and I went to our favorite steakhouse a week later. We did some research this time and discovered our usual go-to, the filet minion, is not all it’s cracked up to be. I went with a NY Strip Steak, the tender middle ground between a less flavorful (no fat) filet and much fattier rib-eye. Of course, Jay was looking for ultimate flavor so he went with the rib-eye. We both went home happy : )

NY Strip Steak and Asparagus
Blogging – I’ve started taking a more active interest in reading and commenting on other blogs this month. It’s such a wonderful world and I am looking forward to becoming even more invested as time goes on.
Ebates – A co-worker introduced me to this site that gives you cash back for online purchases. It was extremely easy to sign up and I’ve already earned $5 after just a few (small) shopping “trips.” They also typically have promo codes to use online that I wouldn’t have otherwise known about. Try it out here!
What were you loving in February??

February 29, 2016 at 12:44 pmThat’s a great reason to sign up! It’s torture that there’s only two episodes available to watch so far. Have you read the book?

February 29, 2016 at 1:18 pmHmm I think I’m going to give it another shot. Also, if you’re a fan of his, I’d suggest his memoir, On Writing. It’s a fascinating read!

February 29, 2016 at 12:26 pm(first post didn’t stick!) I love Sherlock – probably my favorite TV show ever! The creativity and characters just absolutely hooked me from the beginning. And it’s a great show to watch with others who may not have the same tastes as you – I think it appeals to everyone!

February 29, 2016 at 4:38 pmDid you read 11/22/63? I loved that book; couldn’t put it down. Excited to watch the show – glad you’re enjoying it. Sherlock: a total fave. Big Sherlock Holmes fan as it is, and Benedict Cumberbatch – come on!!
I need to find a Bible Study. I miss our crew – that is the main thing I miss about Hope.

February 29, 2016 at 5:31 pmBelieve it or not I did start reading 11/22/63 but was so bored! I think my expectations were too high that it would be all about Kennedy and the assassination. I’ll be trying it again after we finish the TV series, though.
Gosh I love Benedict Cumberbatch…
I can add a bible study for you to my prayer list : ) If only we were closer I’m sure you’d love my new group!

February 29, 2016 at 11:30 pmSherlock is the BEST! I can’t wait for the next season to start. I read 11/22/63 last month and have mixed feelings about it. I started watching the miniseries and made it about halfway through the first episode. It just wasn’t grabbing me or maybe all the changes were too disconcerting. I’m not sure. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it!

March 2, 2016 at 8:10 am[…] ideas. However, it also seems impossible that history can be changed so easily. Ironically, I’m watching the miniseries 11/22/63 based on Stephen King’s novel about a man who travels back in time to prevent the Kennedy […]

March 3, 2016 at 11:36 pmI totally agree about New Girl! I was prepared to hate it with the current casting, but it actually isn’t terrible. That being said, I will be happy when Jess returns!
