What I’m Loving Lately – November 2018
The Christmas season is here and I’m oh so happy! I know some people don’t exactly enjoy all the hubbub and stress of this time of year but I just adore the holidays. We also snagged a PS4 on Black Friday so we’ve been having fun playing that nonstop. I highly recommend Overcooked and Kingdom Hearts for those like me who are video game challenged 🙂 Head over to See You In a Porridge for more monthly recaps from other bloggers!
TV Shows
Top Chef – The 15th season is now available on Hulu, so I’m watching it nonstop these days. It’s fascinating how they come up with unique dishes in such a short amount of time. The challenges get crazier each season too!
9-1-1 – I have a lot of catching up to do on the second season of this drama. So far though, it’s just as addicting as the first season.
Movies
Literary Potato Peel Pie Society – This was one of the reasons I signed up for the free month trial of Netflix and happily it was just as charming as the book.
The Princess Switch – Another Netflix version of a Hallmark Christmas movie. This one stars Vanessa Hudgens as both an ordinary baker and a foreign duchess who switch places for a few days. It’s exactly what you’d expect and perfect for this time of year 🙂
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle – We snagged this for $6 on Black Friday and watched it for the second time the following week. The story may not be stellar but it’s hilarious the whole way through!
Spiderman: Homecoming – Another Black Friday deal! We missed this in theaters so it was our first time watching it. Tom Holland is such a great choice and he plays a teenage superhero extremely well.
Books
Check out my latest reading roundup post here! I’m currently reading:
Events/Activities
SPAMALOT – I helped coordinate a group trip at work to see Monty Python’s SPAMALOT at a local theater. This comedy musical based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail is full of laughs and irreverent humor.
A Dickens Christmas Tea – My mom took my brother’s girlfriend and I out for a Christmas themed afternoon tea. The Victorian tea house is gorgeous and it was entirely decorated for Christmas. We thoroughly enjoyed the selection of holiday teas and delicious soups, salads, snacks, and desserts.
Pennsylvania Christmas Craft Show – That same weekend, my mom, dad, and I visited the PA Farm Show complex for their annual Christmas craft fair. The size of the place is simply astonishing and it is packed full of vendors. We spent FIVE hours there and didn’t come close to seeing it all.
Our First Big Snow of the Season – In mid November the sky dropped seven inches of snow in our area!! It began around noon on a weekday, so it was a complete disaster for some people trying to get home. Luckily I was able to leave work early, so I enjoyed the snowfall from the comfort of our home.
20 Week Ultrasound – In early November we went to our 20 week ultrasound and found out we’re having a BOY!! We’re both delighted with the news and also extremely happy and relieved to hear that he looks healthy and is growing well so far!
What I’m Loving
Bible App – YouVersion’s Bible app is chock full of reading/devotional plans that make it easy to connect with God on a daily basis. I’m particularly pleased with their selection of Christmas plans. Plus, there’s an option to do them with friends and chat about our responses to the devotional questions. Jay and I are doing an Advent one this week and we plan to add our bible study to a month long Christmas plan soon!
Advent Calendars – I purchased a Reeses peanut butter cup advent calendar for Jay and my mom surprised me with a Disney milk chocolate calendar. These are an annual tradition that I still love.
What were you loving in November?
Here’s what I was loving in October!

I’ll definitely be checking out The Princess Switch one of these weekends! Glad to hear you liked it too 🙂
What are you thinking of One Day in December; I’m awaiting my copy from the library, but I hope I get it before Christmas!
I’m enjoying it so far and I’m about halfway through now. It’s not exactly Christmas-y, but it’s still fun to read this time of year especially because it’s light, easy to read, and covers fun topics like the one that got away and close female friendships.
Aww, a boy! So exciting!
I loved the new Jumanji movie and The Princess Switch was a fun, if predictable, holiday movie!
Yayyy, congrats on finding out you’re having a boy! As a mama of two boys, I am so happy for you! 🙂
I need to check out that Bible App. I started studying the Bible with a blog friend, and it sounds like that could help make things easier for us!
It’s such a helpful way to stay accountable while still being able to discuss with each other.
Top Chef is my FAVORITE! I really liked this season… enjoy 😀 I’m also super into food/drink memoirs. Just finished Cork Dork and while I thought the author was a little out of touch, it was so interesting to learn about the world of a sommelier.
Hm I’ve never read anything like that – might be worth checking out!
The new Jumanji movie is one of our favorites too. That’s quite a deal too. If I had seen that, I would have scooped that right up.
A Dickens Christmas tea? We have a celebration in our small town called A Dickens of a Christmas in December.
Ooo A Dickens of a Christmas sounds wonderful! Hopefully Jumanji will go on sale again soon!
Congrats about your news about a baby boy! What wonderful news 🙂

Congratulations on the news of your baby boy! 😀
What a lovely post!
My husband and I saw Spamalot in London, England and it was so hilarious! I am also envious of your Victorian Christmas Tea. It looks lovely. And congrats on your baby! The adventure of parenthood is an amazing, wonder-filled one.
