TBR Mix N’ Mingle – February 2019

Congratulations on making it through January! Hopefully you took advantage of the bitter cold and read all the books on your January TBR stacks. With another frigid month ahead of us, I’m looking forward to plenty more reading time in February. Join us each month on the first Wednesday to share your To Be Read list!

February TBR List:

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

I’m close to halfway through this young adult fantasy novel, so I won’t have any trouble finishing it this month. I’m keeping it at work to read during lunch and the action is so fast-paced that I’m having trouble quitting when 1 o’clock rolls around!

Geekerella by Ashley Poston

This “fan girl fairy tale” just arrived for me at the library! A nerdy take on the Cinderella story sounds like a bunch of fun to read.

Comfort Me With Apples by Ruth Reichl

I’m slowly working my way through Ruth Reichl’s works. She’s a well-known food critic and writer who’s memoirs are a pleasure to read. I adored her memoir about her experience as a NYT food critic, Garlic and Sapphires, and her foray into fiction, Delicious!

  1. I recently saw The Princess and the Fangirl and thought it’s something I’d like to read and it looks like Geekerella is the first book in that series. Look forward to hearing what you think!

    1. Oh yea I completely forgot about The Princess and the Fangirl! So far I like Geekeralla so I’m sure I’ll continue on with that one too.

    1. Definitely give her a shot! I’ll check out the Kitchen Yarns book since I’m always up for a good foodie memoir.

  2. Geekerella and Comfort me with apples sounds great. I am always adding to my Goodreads TBR list 🙂
I’m reading Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty and Our House by Louise Candlish.

    1. I’m about halfway through both of them and absolutely enjoying them so far! I was iffy about Nine Perfect Strangers, so I hope you like it more than I did 🙂

  3. What a cool idea. It’s definitely nice to have a reading objective. I’m currently reading The Au Pair, which I hope to wrap up over the weekend. Then I’m diving right into The Dreamers, and then if I can get to it this month I man finally crack over Ishiguro’s The Buried Giant, which has been sitting on my shelf for far too long!

  4. I got back to reading and being active in the blog world in January, so I didn’t read nearly as much as i would have liked, however my February is doing great so far! I think I’m at 13 books in February so far. I have 3 more left for this week and I’ve already read what I wanted to this week. Caraval and Geekerella are both on my TBR!

    1. Welcome back! That’s an insane number of books you’ve read already. Hope you enjoy Caraval and Geekerella when you get to them. They were both fun reads.

  5. I know that you emailed me about joining this AGES ago…. buying a home and working in it last year wasn’t very conducive to blogging! BUT I am going to try to linkup with you next month! It is such a great idea, and I’d love to see everyone’s TBRs. I have Geekerella at the top of my stack too. I am marking my calendars now so I don’t forget.

    1. Haha no worries! That sounds like quite a time commitment. I’m so happy our home renovations are done now (two years after moving in!)
