To Be Read List for October 2019
Halloween time is here!! I’m hoping to see lots of spooky reads on everyone’s TBR lists for October 2019. If you need inspiration, you can check out my Top 10 Halloween Reads! I still have to get to two new releases coming out in October, Christmas Shopaholic and Twice in a Blue Moon. But, since they were on last month’s list too, I’m updating it with new books on my To Be Read List for October 2019.

What To Read and What To Skip in October
Usually by mid-month I post a recap of my recent reads with mini reviews of each one. Find out which books you’ll want to read and which ones to avoid. A mix of new releases and older books.
Book Lover Gift Guide
I’m revamping my bookish gift guide for Christmas this year. I’ve had a few over the years, but I want to combine them into one master list! I mostly include gifts that aren’t books… If you have any ideas to share or gifts you’ve received that you love let me know!
Office White Elephant Gift Guide
The other gift guide I’m posting this year is a selection of office secret santa/white elephant/gift swap ideas. I’m hoping to pull together close to 30 gift ideas broken down into sections by price!

What’s on your To Be Read List for October 2019?
To Be Read List for October 2019:
Tidelands by Philippa Gregory
Genre: Historical Fiction
Philippa Gregory was one of my first binge-read authors, before that was even a thing! I started with (still my all-time favorite), The Other Boleyn Girl, and didn’t stop. Tidelands is her newest release and lives up to my high expectations so far! I’m listening on audio on Scribd (get two months of unlimited audio and ebooks free with my link!), which makes the story even more engaging. I adore the narrator!
The Vine Witch by Luanne Smith
Genre: Magical Realism
This novel comes out today! I picked this magical realism novel as my selection from Amazon First Reads. Did you know Prime members can select a free book from a selection of new releases each month? Admittedly, I always forget about them but I’m eager to actually read this one! It’s about women who use magic to enhance French vineyards. Elena is a vine witch who recently broke free from a curse and is trying to get back both her powers and her ownership stake in a vineyard.
We Have Always Lived in The Castle by Shirley Jackson
Genre: Gothic Fiction
Shirley Jackson recently made headlines when Netflix picked up an adaptation of her novel, The Haunting of Hill House. This book is another creepy thriller. Two isolated sisters’ lives are interrupted when a cousin comes to visit their family castle.

I love We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Perfect October read. I always thought it was super creepy that Jackson died shortly after the book was published. Last year, my book club read the Haunting of Hill House, but I chickened out. Maybe this year…
Whoa I didn’t know that about her!
I really liked The Other Boelyn Girl but never read any of her other books.
I’m so curious about Philippa Gregory–I think I need to read some of here books. Sounds like The Other Boelyn Girl is the place to start 🙂
I thought about choosing The Vine Witch for the Amazon First Read but went with Every Thing You Are. Fingers crossed that they’re both good!
