Mini Book Reviews – June 2023
Ciao For Now
by Kate Bromley
I ended up devouring this sweet romance in less than two days! It is absolute perfect for summer – featuring big dreams, forever love, and a gorgeous location.
Violet earned an opportunity to spend a month in Italy as a fashion intern and compete for a coveted job at a NY label. Along the way she ends up entangled with the son of a designer and has to wrestle with balancing the chance at love vs her own self doubts about her fashion collection. | 5 Stars | Buy At Amazon | Buy At Bookshop.org | Buy At Barnes & Noble
by Sara Cate
Thanks to Booktok for putting this spicy, billionaire book on my radar! It’s now featured as one of my favorite spicy Booktok books! And I now can’t get enough of hearing “Good Girl”!
Charlie’s new boss is all sorts of wrong for her…twice her age…owner of the Salacious Players Club…and her ex’s father. She knows all this, but he wants her like she’s never been wanted before. He makes her feel treasured, valued, and worthy. Is that enough to overcome the significant obstacles facing them? 5 Stars | Amazon (Free on Kindle Unlimited) | Buy At Bookshop.org | Buy At Barnes & Noble
by T.J. Newman
Let’s switch things up a bit with a heart-pounding, couldn’t turn the pages quick enough aviation thriller!! T.J is actually a former flight attendant who turned a furlough into an opportunity – and I’m so glad she did! This book was insanely good – I was utterly captivated!
A pilot must choose between saving his family and saving a flight full of passengers. With the clock ticking down, the pilot, the crew, and his family are all trying to find any way possible to survive. | 5 Stars | Buy At Amazon | Buy At Bookshop.org | Buy At Barnes & Noble
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches
by Sangu Mandanna
In Mika’s world, witches are meant to keep to themselves to ensure their magic doesn’t mingle and draw attention. So, although it’s not spectacular, she’s used to her isolated life. Until she takes a chance on a mysterious message asking her to train three young witches at Nowhere House.
The risk turns into a great reward as she bonds with the girls…and possibly wins over the cranky librarian who just wants to keep them safe. This was one of the most heart-warming, sweet books I’ve read. It reminded me of a lighter House In The Cerulean Sea!! 5 Stars | Buy At Amazon | Buy At Bookshop.org | Buy At Barnes & Noble
by Tessa Bailey
Is it weird that I loved this SO much more than the first book in the series!? Something about these two characters and their crazy chemistry had me absolutely hooked!! Honestly you don’t need to read Secretly Yours to enjoy the heck out of this one – get ready for a wildly passionate love story between two polar opposites trying their best to avoid confronting how much they love each other.
Natalie and August both need money, which will come in the form of Natalie’s trust fund…after she gets married. What starts as a sham quickly turns serious but both of these two love birds aren’t being honest with themselves or with each other! 4.5 Stars | Buy At Amazon | Buy At Bookshop.org | Buy At Barnes & Noble
As always, I recommend using Libro.fm if you’re an audiobook listener!! Libro.fm directly supports indie bookstores, but costs the same as Amazon’s Audible! You can get 2 audiobooks for only $15 with my link and code CHOOSEINDIE.
The Fine Print
by Lauren Asher
The Fine Print is the first book in the Dreamland Billionaires series, which has been on my radar for a while now. The books focus on brothers who are heirs to a theme park, think Disney! I personally love the idea of a spicy romance book set against the backdrop of running an amusement corporation like Disney.
The Fine Print definitely delivered! Buttoned-up Rowan has his reasons for demanding excellence from his employees, but new hire Zahra is making her own rules. If you’d rather read than listen, this is also available for free on Kindle Unlimited! 4 Stars | Free on Kindle Unlimited | Libro.fm
Practice Makes Perfect
by Sarah Adams
Sarah Adams is one of my most frequently recommended romance authors, so not much gets me more excited than a new book from her!! As the youngest Walker sister, Annie’s been boxed into a “sweet, angelic, meek” personality her entire life. No one would ever expect she’s been crushing on Amelia’s ruthless, tattooed bodyguard, Will.
After a chance encounter at a restaurant, Will and Annie strike up a friendship/tutor situation to help Annie be brave enough to find the perfect man to settle down with. Unfortunately, despite Will’s adamant refusal to ever be in a relationship, Annie longs for only him.
It was so endearing watching Annie break out of the shell she’s been wrapped in and find courage to show off her true self. Plus, I adore the fact that Sarah wrote about someone so sweet and nice on the outside having much wilder desires!! | 5 Stars | Amazon | Bookshop.org | Barnes & Noble
