Mini Book Reviews – August 2023

Physical Books:

in the weeds

In The Weeds / Mixed Signals

by B.K. Borison

I flew through the second and third book in this series because I just can’t get enough of these characters and writing! In The Weeds tells Beckett’s story and Mixed Signals stars Layla.

Both of these are just as sweet and charming and sexy as Lovelight Farms, so I wholeheartedly recommend picking up the whole series before the 4th book comes out next year! You can find ALL the details of each book and my thoughts in my ultimate guide to the Lovelight Farms series.  | 5 Stars | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target for $10!

 nine lives

Nine Lives

by Peter Swanson

A rare thriller that I read in 24 hours! Nine strangers receive a piece of mail with their names on it and find out they’re being killed off one by one. It was fascinating finding out what would happen to each of the individual’s on the list and trying to uncover how they might be connected.

My only gripe was the very last chapter, which I felt was unnecessary but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book. I keep hearing his older novels are even better so I’ll be reading his backlist for sure! 4.5 Stars | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target

reign

Reign

by Katharine McGee

The 4th and final installment of the beloved American Royals series is here! It’s been a dramatic and wild ride, but our characters’ stories are wrapping up. In this final book, we pick up right where we left off as the future of America is uncertain and the siblings are scattered.

When Sam finds out what has happened, she returns but is met with a less than enthusiastic response and realizes she still needs to find out where she truly belongs. Jackson is caught in a web of his own making but clearly still uncertain about his decisions. And Beatrice struggles to figure out what’s happened the past year and how she’s managed all along.

This book clearly wrapped up each characters story – which I loved. It’s so satisfying to have final endings for each of them and I love the choices that were made!  4 Stars | Buy At Amazon | Buy At Target

business or pleasure

Business or Pleasure

by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Rachel Lynn Solomon continues to knock her adult romance books out of the park! A ghost writer struggling with her sense of purpose spends an out of character night with a charming man…until they end up in bed and she discovers he’s terrible at everything beyond kissing! She writes it off as a disaster and sneaks away in the morning…only to discover her next writing client is all too familiar.

Finn and Chandler awkwardly acknowledge their predicament and agree to move forward with their career interests in mind. But one night when the disaster comes up, Finn asks for help in that very specific department. And Chandler becomes his sexual teacher…The lines get blurred when their lessons start to feel all too real, though.  4.5 Stars  | Listen On Amazon | Listen On Libro.fm

things we hide from the light

Things We Hide From The Light

by Lucy Score

This series continues to blow me away! Things We Hide From The Light continues Lucy’s mastery of broken men who find redemption. After getting shot in the line of duty, Nash is struggling to feel anything again but hiding it from his loved ones. Lina somehow manages to see past his ruse and gets under his skin. His lust for her is the only thing that awakens him lately, but she has no interest in starting anything serious with her hot new neighbor.

On top of it all, the person responsible for Nash’s injury is still on the loose and Lina is now involved. Tensions escalate and danger seems to be lurking everywhere. I love the heart pounding drama and the complicated relationship between these two! 4.5 Stars | Free On Kindle Unlimited | Buy At Target for $12

good part

The Good Part

by Sophie Cousens

Thanks to the publisher I got to read an advanced copy of this novel! It comes out in November but do yourself a favor and order this now! Lucy is tired of bad dates, deadend jobs, and crappy apartments and just wishes she could get to the “good part” Which is exactly what happens…

She wakes up over a decade in the future and finds herself with a family, house, and stellar job but no memory of how she got there. Her family assumes she’s had a fluke memory loss but she’s desperate to get back to her old life when she realizes she doesn’t want to actually miss out on all the small moments that built this life.

A heartfelt look at the value of each piece of your life and discovering how to appreciate what you have mixed in with delightful 13 Going on 30 type humor! A young woman trying to adjust to motherhood and marriage was so fun and relatable. An all around great read! | 5 Stars | Preorder From Amazon
