Kindle Tips / Hacks

  • Put your Kindle on airplane mode to save battery after you have downloaded your book(s). This simple setting can extend your battery life so you can go even longer between charges!

  • If you’re truly desperate for a longer battery, adjust the screen brightness as well!

  • Browse your library website to find eBooks that you can borrow for free and send to your Kindle! Most libraries use Libby, Hoopla, CloudLibrary or another app to give you access to extensive collections of eBooks you can read for free!

  • If you borrow eBooks from your library, put your Kindle on airplane mode to prevent them from being returned if you’re not done reading. This will keep the book on your Kindle PLUS it doesn’t affect the next person waiting in line.

  • Use the highlighter to keep track of favorite quotes / passages as you’re reading so you can easily return to them anytime afterward.

  • If you’re always on the hunt for the best book deals, subscribe to the Kindle Daily Deals newsletter on Amazon. You’ll get a daily digest of eBooks that are on sale for a limited time.

  • If you’re not a fan of the default font, tap the Aa icon in the toolbar at the top of the screen and select Font, then Font Family to change it.

  • In the same Aa settings section, you can select Layout to change additional viewer preferences such as page color!
  • If you want a quicker way to adjust the font size, simply make a pinching motion with two fingers on the screen.

  • You can take a screenshot of anything on your Kindle by holding two fingers on the top left and bottom right corners. You’ll see a brief flash and the image will be saved. If you connect your Kindle to a computer, you can view any screenshots taken.

I hope a few of these Kindle tips will make your reading experience even more enjoyable! If you have any additional tips/hacks, please share with us in the comments!

  1. Cloud Library and Hoopla will only work on a Kindle Fire.

Subscribe to BookBub for an email with daily deals (including free Kindle books). It’s much better than the email from Amazon.
