Mini Book Reviews – September 2024

Physical Books:

worst case scenario

Worst Case Scenario by T.J. Newman

I’m a T.J. Newman super-fan, so this was one of my most anticipated books of 2024. And did it ever deliver!! She continues her style of heart-pounding, incredibly realistic disasters with a plane that crashes into a nuclear power plant. The implications of the situation are catastrophic and the tension builds immediately.

I DEVOURED this. From start to finish, I was enthralled by the idea of this scenario and the sacrifices needed to keep it under control. I not only learned a ton about how a nuclear power plant works, but also felt like I was living this right alongside the characters. Easily going to be one of my favorite books of the year.| 5 Stars | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target

here one moment

Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty

Liane Moriarty is back with another incredible, thought provoking novel. When an older woman on a plane starts walking down the aisle and predicting how and when each passenger will die, she forces everyone to rethink the way they’re living their lives.

The story is told in alternating sections, the women reveals her life story intermingled with present day where different passengers deal with the news that they’ve been told they’ll die within a year. It was fascinating reading how each person handled the news differently and what changes they made in their lives as a result.

This story will stick with me for a while. It is classic Liane Moriarty. I loved the connections she made in the last few chapters and how it all wrapped up too. This is a must add to your fall TBR!! | 5 Stars | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target

we could be

We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian

An old timey male/male romance that absolutely delivered on audio. I adored the accents and found this incredibly charming. Two reporters in the 1950’s who couldn’t be more different end up as friends, but one is painfully aware of the serious consequences that come with being gay while the other is just starting to realize his connection may go beyond friendship. 4 Stars | Buy On Amazon | Listen on Libro.fm (Get 2 FREE Audiobooks When You Try A Membership!)

bridesmaid undercover

Bridesmaid Undercover

I think this book made laugh out loud more than anything else I’ve read this year! I listened to the audiobook and was cracking up at work, at the gym, even in the car by myself. The writing is incredibly snapping and the self-deprecating humor was hilarious. Everly is helping plan Hardy’s friends wedding, and he strikes up a deal with her to try to win back the maid of honor. But as they set off on a series of misadventures to try to get her back, they develop something of their own. 4 Stars | Free On Kindle Unlimited

savor it

Savor It by Tarah Dewitt

In kind of the opposite of the normal small town romance, the male main character is the city boy who moves to a small town and is eventually won over by the residents and his cute and quirky neighbor. This just hit all the right notes for a romance and I loved that he’s a big time chef going through a crisis of identity. | 4.5 Stars | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target

night watching

Night Watching by Tracy Sierra

I was expecting to be absolutely terrified by this thriller and while it was definitely creepy and intense, it didn’t keep me up at night. A mom discovers an intruder in the house and quickly gathers her children and tries to hide.

The mom herself (and ultimately the police) are constantly questioning what really happened that night, though. So the potentially unreliable narrator kept this from becoming too scary!!  | 4 Stars | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target
