dream girl drama

Dream Girl Drama by Tessa Bailey

I’ve adored the previous two sports romance books that Tessa Bailey wrote, so I know this is going to be amazing too! Dream Girl Drama features two side characters from The Au Pair Affair and the sparks are going to fly! Sig is Burgess’s hockey teammate and Chloe is one of Tallulah’s friends. However, these two have connections of their own.

After Sig’s car breaks down one night, he ends up walking to the nearby posh country club to call a tow. He meets the rebellious and alluring Chloe and the two hit it off. After a kiss and a promise to see each other again, Sig can’t wait to see where this goes. Until Sig goes with his dad to meet his new girlfriend…and finds out it’s Chloe’s mom. And there’s news – his dad and her mom are getting married.

This changes everything, but Chloe is still trying to get out from under mom’s controlling thumb so Sig promises to teach her all about Boston and help her become more independent. They promise to keep things platonic…but will they be able to keep their hands off each other?! | Buy From Amazon | Buy Exclusive Edition From Target

great big beautiful

Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry

It wouldn’t be summer without a new romance from Emily Henry! Two writers are competing for the job of a lifetime, telling the story of the infamous Margaret Ives. This heiress, publicity hound, and member of one of the most scandalous families of the decade invites Hayden and Alice to visit for a one month trial period.

Alice may have less experience than surly Pulitzer winner Hayden, but she knows her optimistic personality and people skills will win Margaret over. The problem is she’s not getting the whole story. Margaret seems to be telling each of them different snippets of her life, but their NDA and the weird tension between them keeps them from sharing anything.

I adore any books set in the literary world and this seems a bit different from her other romances, so I’m eager to get my hands on a copy! P.S. The Target edition has exclusive bonus chapters! | Buy From Amazon | Buy Exclusive Edition From Target

say youll remember me

Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez

Another summer staple is the new Abby Jimenez book to bring along on vacation! I think this may be one of Abby’s best book boyfriends – Xavier, a Greek God-esque veterinarian who meets our main character while cuddling a tiny kitten? Love it! Except him and Samantha get off on the wrong foot after their first conversation. In an effort to prove him wrong, she agrees to a date and what happens next shocks them both.

The best date in living history – one that never seems to end because their chemistry is insane! Once again though, things go wrong. Samantha is dealing with a family crises and absolutely cannot seriously date someone right now, no matter how perfect they are together. She begs him to forget everything that happened. The question is though, can anyone truly forget a life changing moment like theirs. | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target

battle of the bookstores

Battle of the Bookstores by Ali Brady

The cover alone is enough to make me want this on my bookshelves, but I also have enjoyed every single on of this writing duo’s books! Normally, you’ll find more of a contemporary women’s fiction vibe with a bit of romance on the side, but in their latest romance takes center stage!

I know book lovers are going to be lining up to read this because it literally features two rival bookstore managers. While Josie and Ryan both manage shops on the same street in Boston, they haven’t interacted much in the past. After all, Josie focuses on serious literature while Ryan hawks romance books. This all changes when a new owner buys both of their shops and tells them he’s only keeping one open.

Now they’re in direct competition to keep their beloved stores and their jobs. They couldn’t be more opposite and the clashes start immediately. At least they’ve both discovered some solace in an anonymous online friend…which turns out to be each other! Throw in this case of mistaken identities, rivals to lovers, and opposites attract and I’m ALL IN. | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target

with a vengeance

With A Vengeance by Riley Sager

A new Riley Sager is always going to top my list of the best new books of the year! I like that this one has a historical aspect as well and it sounds more fast-paced than his last novel. In 1942, six people destroyed Anna Matheson’s family. Twelve years later, she’s ready for retribution.

Under false pretenses, Anna has lured those responsible for her family’s downfall onto a luxury train from Philadelphia to Chicago, an overnight journey of thirteen hours.  She’s hoping to confront the people involved, get them to confess and hand them over the the authorities.

But Anna’s plan changes when a passenger is murdered. Someone else on board is enacting their own form of revenge—and that they won’t stop until everyone else is dead.

With time running out before the train reaches its destination, Anna is forced to hunt the killer in their midst while protecting the people she hates the most. In order to destroy her enemies, she must first save them—even though it means putting her own life at risk. | Buy From Amazon

enchanted greenhouse

The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst

The author of one of my favorite cozy fantasies of 2024 is back with another gorgeous novel. Terlu Perna broke the law because she was lonely. She cast a spell and created a magically sentient spider plant. As punishment, she was turned into a wooden statue and tucked away into an alcove in the North Reading Room of the Great Library of Alyssium.

This should have been the end of her story . . . Yet one day, Terlu wakes in the cold of winter on an island full of hundreds of magical greenhouses. She’s starving and freezing, and the only other human on the island is a grumpy gardener. To her surprise, he offers Terlu a place to sleep, clean clothes, and food―at least until she’s ready to sail home.

But Terlu can’t return home and doesn’t want to―the greenhouses are a dream come true. When she learns that the magic that sustains them is failing, Terlu knows she must help. Assisted by the gardener and a sentient rose, Terlu must unravel the secrets of a long-dead sorcerer if she wants to save the island―and have a fresh chance at happiness and love. | Buy From Amazon

sunrise on the reaping

Sunrise On The Reaping by Suzanne Collins

I realize this is dystopian and not true fantasy, but bear with me because this is a must read in 2025 for me. In this additional installment to the Hunger Games series, we finally get to read Haymitch’s story.

On the dawn of the Second Quarter Quell, fear grips all of Panem since twice as many tributes will be taken into the arena. In District 12, Haymitch is desperately hoping to get through the day and back to the girl he loves. But when his name is called, he finds himself on the way to the Capitol. He discovers he’s been set up to fail, but he finds something within himself that wants to fight. And hope that fight inspires something bigger in the rest of the districts.  | Buy From Amazon |

witches guide to magical

A Witch’s Guide To Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna

Sangu wrote one of my all time favorite fantasy books about witches – the very secret society of irregular witches, so I’m hoping this will have all the same heartwarming vibes!

Sera Swan used to be one of the most powerful witches in Britain. Then she resurrected her great-aunt Jasmine from, lost most of her magic, befriended a talking fox, and was exiled from her Guild. Now she’s helping her aunt run an enchanted inn but mostly longs to get her power back. But then she finds out about an old spell that could hold the key to restoring what she’s lost.

Enter Luke Larsen, handsome and icy magical historian, who arrives on a dark winter evening and might just know how to unlock the spell’s secrets. Luke has absolutely no interest in getting involved in the madcap goings-on of the inn and is definitely not about to let a certain bewitching innkeeper past his walls, so no one is more surprised than he is when he agrees to help Sera with her spell. Worse, he might actually be thawing.

Running an inn, reclaiming lost magic, and staying one step ahead of the watchful Guild is a lot for anyone, but Sera Swan is about to discover that she doesn’t have to do it alone…and that the weird, wonderful family she’s made might be the best magic of all.  | Buy From Amazon
