Mini Book Reviews – February 2025
Physical Books:
We All Live Here by JoJo Moyes
Out Of The Woods by Hannah Bonam-Young
This is the sequel to Out On A Limb and I didn’t think it was possible but I might like it even more?? Sarah and Caleb got married young and are clearly meant for each other, but she’s struggling to figure out who she wants to be as an adult. Caleb has always been there to rescue her, but she’s tired of needing help and wants to make something of her life on her own.
In an attempt to shake things up, they go on a weeklong wilderness adventure meant to help couples reconnect. I adore reading about non-nature people like me trying to survive an outdoor trip! The setting provided plenty of obstacles and moments of hilarity alongside the deeper scenes.
It’s so refreshing reading about a strong couple who still have issues they need to work through. It showcased how difficult life can be after the happy-ever-after. I would love to see more romances about married couples in the future!! | Buy From Amazon
AudioBooks:
As always, I recommend using Libro.fm if you’re an audiobook listener!! Libro.fm directly supports indie bookstores, but costs the same as Amazon’s Audible! You can get TWO audiobooks for only $15 with my link and code CHOOSEINDIE.
Lights Out by Navessa Allen
Not In My Book by Katie Holt
If you love books about writers, you’re going to love this as much as I did! Our two clashing cowriters are taking the same writing class and their verbal sparring leads the professor taking drastic measures to avoid the constant disruptions. Romance writer and lover of happy endings Rosie must write a novel with literary fiction devotee Aiden that blends their two genres.
When the manuscript turns unexpectedly steamy, the lines between fiction and real life blur. Soon they’re using their writing to start expressing their actual feelings for each other. Doesn’t this sound incredible!? I really enjoyed the dual narration and hear from both characters. There’s nothing earth shattering about this, just a solid, fun contemporary romance! | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target
eBooks:
What Happened To The McCrays by Tracey Lange
I don’t normally read many family dramas / general fiction stories but Tracey Lange is one exception. She is now 3/3 with five star books! In this story, Kyle McCray returns to his hometown after he hears his father had a stroke. It’s not an easy decision, since Kyle abandoned everyone two years ago when he left suddenly without explanation, including his wife Casey.
Casey immediately makes it clear he’s not welcome, but as Kyle starts to understand how deeply he impacted those around him, he starts hoping for a chance at redemption. So, he takes the opportunity to become the middle school hockey coach and help rescue the floundering team.
This was not always an easy book to read, as we encounter characters dealing with intense grief and blame, but the writing is so compelling and relatable that I couldn’t put it down. There are also enough lighthearted moments and healing that I left with an overwhelming sense of hope! | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target
The Charlie Method by Elle Kennedy
I just finished reading this spicy romance and absolutely adored it! Elle Kennedy continues to crush it with her hockey romances. I was rooting so hard for these characters to find a way to make this unconventional relationship work.
This is technically the third book in her Campus Diaries series and each one has been amazing in it’s own way. Plus, these can easily be read as standalones so you can jump right in. Charlotte is a stick straight overachiever with a secret wild side. Almost no one knows about her late night hookups, until she matches with not one but two fellow Briar students on an app. These boys like to share and Charlie can’t deny she’s intrigued by the idea of two men worshipping her at the same time.
When she finally actually meets them in person, the two hockey players and Charlie sense an immediate connection. Normally they’d all keep it strictly sexual with no feelings, but there’s something special about this threesome. Except each of them have their own reasons that it cannot be public. | Buy From Amazon | Buy Exclusive Target Edition
The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia
I found this on Kindle Unlimited and decided to give it a shot, but some of the characters were comically cliche and there was a major plot hole that didn’t make sense and annoyed me. So, this just didn’t work for me but I know others who devoured it. The ending was at least satisfying and it was a very fast-paced read!
The book features two women with very different backgrounds who meet on a plane. Days later, both women end up missing, leaving only a trail of text messages that lead to the same man. Questions arise about how these women ended up connected to the possible killer and the story unfolds over the days between that fateful plane trip and the discovery that something went horribly wrong. 3 Stars | Buy On Amazon

Good morning from Anne’s, Rachel! If Jojo Moyes is writing, I’m reading. Thanks for the thumbs up on her book.
