Discover which books you should add to your reading list that are being published in March 2025!

It was a bit more of a struggle this month to come up with new releases to fill out this list! For some reason, there just weren’t a ton of books that caught my eye. However, one of the most anticipated books of the year is coming at the end of March! You’ll find it in the fantasy section.

I sorted my list by genre so you can easily find a new book you’ll love. There are options in romance, mysteries/thrillers, and fantasy this month.

spells

Spells, Strings, and Forgotten Things by Breanne Randall

I follow this author on Instagram and she’s been describing this book as Bridgerton with witches, so I’ve been waiting impatiently for this to come out so I can dive into it! From what I can tell, it’s not the historical aspect of Bridgerton that she means, it’s the enemies to lovers vibes and the family drama! This is a contemporary romance featuring three sisters who carefully guard the secret to their magic. I love that magic has a cost in this world – it requires the caster to give up one of their memories.

Thankfully for Calliope, she will happily give up memories since she’s had plenty of bad ones. Their mother left without a trace, her sisters have been growing more and more distant from each other, and she’s still hurt from a rough breakup two years ago.

To make matters worse, a mysterious evil awakens in their small town and it shatters the remaining connection between the three sisters. Calliope must figure out how to stop it to keep their magic from fading completely. Unfortunately, that means binding with the infuriating leader of a rival coven, who is as handsome as he is horrible. Calliope must confront her memories while dealing with growing feelings toward Lucien to save their town and their families magic. | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target

story of my life

Story Of My Life by Lucy Score

Not another romance book with sprayed edges! I’m such a sucker for these – plus it’s one of my all time favorite authors! This edition includes not only those beautiful edges, it’s also got a glossy cover, a town map, and chapter POV art! Lucy writes another small town romance that’s been described as Gilmore Girls meets Schitt’s Creek. Lucy herself says it’s a love letter to every reader who wants to move to a fictional town!

Hazel is a romance author who’s facing an unsurpassable case of writer’s block after a bad breakup. In a desperate search for inspiration, she buys a charming historic house in PA and heads there to kick start her brain. Except the state of the home was vastly overexaggerated and she’s now stuck with a wreck. Plus, the house came with a mandatory seat on town council so she’s also facing the endless problems of this struggling small town.

A sliver of hope arrives in the form of Cam and his astonishingly handsome brothers who agree to help her fix up the house. Soon enough she’s not only writing again, but living out a romance novel! Except Cam isn’t fictional and comes with his own struggles. Can Hazel find real happiness and love and maybe help save this small town too? I can’t wait to find out! Plus, it sounds like this will be the first book in a new series! | Buy Deluxe Edition From Amazon | Buy Deluxe Edition From Target

Mystery/Thriller New Releases

count my lies

Count My Lies by Sophie Stava

The lies keep adding up for Sloane Caraway and she’s perfectly happy about it. She’s always been this way, telling little half truths to make her life seem more interesting. So, when she sees a young girl crying in a park, she gets the attention of the attractive dad by saying she’s a nanny.

Soon, she’s completely invested in this family’s life. Jay and Violet Lockhart live in a gorgeous brownstone and Sloane is now part of the family, taking their daughter to her elite school and going away on vacation with them.

It seems like the ideal situation, all because she was willing to play pretend for a bit. Except Sloane eventually realizes that she’s not the only one keeping secrets. And the situation she’s in could be much more dangerous than anything she’s done in the past. Some people will do anything to keep up the pretense of the idyllic life they live.

This is the March Good Morning America Book Club pick, so it’s gotten a lot of buzz lately! It was also a Book of the Month selection, and I ended up grabbing it from there so I’m looking forward to reading it soon! | Buy From Amazon

Fantasy New Releases

sunrise on the reaping

Sunrise On The Reaping by Suzanne Collins

I realize this is dystopian and not true fantasy, but bear with me because this is a must read in 2025 for me. In this additional installment to the Hunger Games series, we finally get to read Haymitch’s story.

On the dawn of the Second Quarter Quell, fear grips all of Panem since twice as many tributes will be taken into the arena. In District 12, Haymitch is desperately hoping to get through the day and back to the girl he loves. But when his name is called, he finds himself on the way to the Capitol. He discovers he’s been set up to fail, but he finds something within himself that wants to fight. And hope that fight inspires something bigger in the rest of the districts.

I haven’t heard anything about this because I don’t think they sent copies to early readers so it will be so much fun to read it for the first time with everyone else on March 18th! I didn’t love her other prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes which focused on President Snow, but I have much higher hopes for Haymitch’s story.  | Buy From Amazon | Buy The Target Exclusive Edition

General Fiction New Releases

broken

Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall

I wanted to showcase another celebrity book club pick this month because I’ve also heard rave reviews from readers I know and trust. Broken Country was Reese’s Book Club pick for March, so it’s also getting a lot of attention. I’m not normally a general fiction reader, but this story has so many different elements it sounds like it’ll be a page-turner.

It’s got a little bit of everything, family drama, a love triangle and a lurking sense of danger that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Beth and her calm, steady husband Frank are happily married, but one flash decision upends the entire life they’ve built. One day, Frank’s brother shoots a dog who has been going after their sheep and the owner turns out to be Beth’s childhood love, Gabriel.

Gabriel is back in town with his son, who seems shockingly familiar to the child Beth and Frank lost in a tragic accident years ago. Beth is pulled back into Gabriel’s life, and their town and everyone around them starts to unravel as the secrets and jealousies of the past are brought forward again. And now the consequences are deadly.

This novel jumps back and forth between present day and what happened between these characters in the past, so I’m sure it will keep you hooked! I love the idea of this festering love triangle and am dying to know why the stakes are so high now.  | Buy From Amazon
