Bookish Small Businesses All Readers Will Love
Small businesses are the backbone of our country and I want to share some of my favorite bookish small businesses to help support them!
There are SO many options to choose from, but I am recommending the ones I’ve personally purchased items from or have had recommended by friends!
These bookish small businesses feature a variety of items, like book sleeves, clothing, home goods, jewelry and so much more. They make great gifts for fellow readers or an easy way to treat yourself to something fun!
*Disclosure – I earn a small commission for any items purchased from the links below at no extra charge to you! Thank you for supporting this blog. In the age of AI and Google takeovers, any amount of support means so much!
Bookish Small Businesses
This is my number 1 recommendation for a bookish small business! Pippi Post has a huge variety of fun items with the cutest bookish designs. I particularly love her jigsaw puzzles that feature literary locations, her glass cans with straws, and her home goods like tea towels. I own the literary locations puzzle and can confirm it’s extremely high quality – I’ve purchased other whimsical puzzles in the past that look pretty but break easily or aren’t easy to put together. I also have one of her holiday tea towels that I used a ton last winter.
I’ve purchased from this store multiple times in the past and always look forward to seeing what new collection she’ll come up with next! She has multiple seasonal drops throughout the year, so there’s always something new to look forward to trying. Most of the time they’re reader related, but she’s also offered products for the holidays, to celebrate national parks and add a twist on Taylor Swift.
She just dropped a new collection that focuses on libraries and school book fairs! I’m definitely going to be snagging a few stickers and things from this one because I just adore little free libraries, school libraries and of course have all sorts of nostalgia for book fairs!
In a nod to her store name, she also has gorgeous greeting cards for sale. Often you can find them on sale for only $2 each!! Which is insane when you have to pay $5 or $6 at Target these days. Plus, there are a selection of digital products and classes to spark love of reading in little ones or help adults with their own creative side!
Pippi Post is run by Alexa who lives in Southern Utah. She originally started designing greeting cards because of her love of snail mail and has expanded into all sorts of uniquely designed items for us to enjoy! | Shop Here
I bought my first ever bookish T-shirt from Literary Creations by Jenny! So, her shop holds a special place in my heart. I love her sometimes simple, sometimes dramatic designs because there’s always an option for everyone!
You’ll find handsewn items like book sleeves, T-shirts, hoodies, and tote bags. Each item is actually cut out, sewn, and heat-pressed by hand, making this a true small business endeavor from start to finish. She’s also added a few accessories like stickers, mugs, and bookmarks that feature her unique designs.
Another thing I love about this business is that it’s run entirely by Jenny and her family. Her husband and parents all play a role in making her goods and fulfilling orders! Her story started back in 2019 when Jenny and her husband learned to sew book sleeves on a whim! | Shop Here
If you’re looking for just bookish apparel, Piper and Ivy is the way to go! You’ll find clothing for book lovers AND plant lovers here, which honestly go so well together. The options are truly endless – making it so much fun even to browse. I guarantee you’ll find a piece that fits your reading personality!
Piper and Ivy was started by a mom and daughter duo and they still run their business together out of Florida! As a bonus, I have a discount code you can use to get a free T-shirt with any purchase. The code is FREETEE – simply add this code during checkout as long as you have both a Tshirt and any other item in your cart and the tee will be free!
I just used this code myself to snag a crewneck sweatshirt that I’ve had my eye on for a while and of course a T-shirt as well! | Shop Here
Flight of Fantasy Books Etsy Shop
One of the shops I’m most excited to highlight is an Etsy shop owned by a woman who lives 15 minutes from me! She reached out to me on Instagram and we realized we’re practically neighbors. It was a blast meeting up with a fellow book lover and I got to try out a bunch of items she’s now offering.
I loved hearing Cindy talk about how she started her shop and all the plans she has to expand into new items and stores. She handcrafts her items, so you know you’re getting high quality products. I wish I was that creative! In her Etsy store, you’ll currently find a variety of bookish accessories. She offers Kindle charms, earrings, colorful inserts for clear Kindle cases, bookmarks, page holders, and more!
I don’t normally use bookmarks, since I Have a habit of just picking up whatever is nearby, but I’ve been using her bookmarks exclusively since I got them. They’re sturdy and durable, which is great since they end up all over my house. I also love that there are different, complimentary designs on the front and back! I always read while I’m eating so this page holder has been a lifesaver. I noticed she’s currently offering a sale so you can save 25% when you buy 3 items from her shop! That’s an absolute steal! | Shop Here
I love following Kasey on Instagram so I can see all of her colorful and creative designs. I personally love her stickers, since they’re water resistant (meaning they can get wet and you can handwash them). I use them for decorating my laptop and water bottles! She also sells bookmarks, Kindle charms, Kindle cases and even bookish hair clips.
The hair clips are such a unique item! Currently, she has two designs. One that’s great for the winter season – a Christmas tree decorated with books. The other is a stack of books that features mostly holiday colors but could easily be worn year round. Her stickers change pretty frequently so it’s always worthwhile checking back to see what’s new! | Shop Here
If you’re looking for tasteful bookish jewelry, this is the bookish small business for you! I tend to gravitate toward simple jewelry that’s not flashy and all of her items fit that description. You’ll find little silhouettes of books and outlines of bookshelves or book stacks. The designs are available as necklaces, rings, or bracelets.
I think these would make a great gift for teachers, friends or family members! Since they’re small and tasteful, they’ll appeal to a lot of different people. Most of them come in the classic colors of silver, gold, or rose gold. I have my eye on a rose gold ring with an outline of an open book that I’m planning to buy soon! | Shop Here!
It’s common knowledge that most readers also love candles. They make your home smell amazing and add a cozy ambience to any reading corner. So, I love that this bookish small business makes book-themed candles!
Also, you don’t have to spend $20 or more per candle. She offers sample packs for only $16 that include 4 mini candles. These are a great way to try out a variety. Plus, they are themed specifically for readers. So you can find a generic bookworm option, a Sarah J Maas option, and even a Fourth Wing sample pack.
The scents sound divine – I was probably most excited to see a 3 pack of candles inspired by the Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst because that was one of my top 3 books of 2024! It’s a cozy fantasy, and her candles are based on locations from the book like Brynn’s bakery (a cinnamon bun scent) and Kiela’s cottage (raspberry jam scented)! The owner, Callie, clearly is a booklover herself and thoughtfully selects scents that tie directly into the stories we know and love!
All of Callie’s candles are homemade, made to order, and shipped from New York. She uses soy wax, which is derived from vegetables to be eco-friendly and longer burning! | Shop Here!
I discovered Sparrow & Wilde thanks to everyone’s go to fantasy podcasters, Fantasy FanGirls! I tried a few of her semi-permanent tattoos and FELL IN LOVE! Her store is basically a love letter to the most popular romantasy fandoms. You’ll find representation from Fourth Wing, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Throne of Glass, Haunting Adeline, Zodiac Academy and more!
I personally think her temporary tattoos and semi-permanent tattoos are the most exciting items, since they’re hard to find. The quality is incredible too. When I tried the semi-permanent tattoos they were easy to apply and lasted a full two weeks!
In addition to those options, you’ll find phone cases, desk mats, and a bunch of T-shirts and sweatshirts. The apparel designs are very detailed and complex, which sets them apart from other shops. Sparrow & Wilde is run by Erin, who’s also very entertaining on her Instagram 🙂 She clearly is incredibly passionate about her products and a huge bookworm herself. | Shop Here
This is hands down my favorite book subscription box that sends books and gifts. They always have a terrific selection of books and the gifts included are thoughtfully chosen. These boxes are designed with the five senses in mind. The founder, Natisha, wants these packages to engage all your senses. I also ADORE the chocolate bars they include with their Deluxe subscription.
You may have to join a waitlist to sign up for their current subscription box, but you can also purchase past boxes or build your own tote! Head to the Marketplace to see what’s currently for sale. The Fill-A-Tote option is a new addition and you can get a tote bag, book, candle, chocolate and self care item for only $45! This is one of those “treat yourself” options that I highly recommend! | Shop Here
