Mini Book Reviews – March 2026
Physical Books:
My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney
A psychological thriller that centers on mysterious identities and deceit within a seemingly perfect marriage. Eden is a promising artist about to unveil her first exhibition, but returns one morning from run to find her new home, Spyglass, locked and unrecognizable. Her key doesn’t fit, and when she knocks, a woman who looks eerily like her answers the door, yet this stranger’s husband insists she is his wife.
Six months earlier, Birdy, a solitary Londoner grappling with a life-altering diagnosis, inherits Spyglass from a grandmother she never knew and relocates there seeking answers. While there, Birdy uncovers a shadowy clinic claiming to predict people’s dates of death, including her own, triggering revelations that blur the lines between lies and reality. As both women’s narratives intersect, Feeney crafts a twisting tale of obsession, deception, and revenge that keeps readers guessing about who can be trusted and what really happened within the walls of Spyglass. 4.5 Stars | Buy From Amazon

Just For The Cameras by Meghan Quinn
I had such a blast listening to this football / zookeeper romance 😂 It is packed full of signature Meghan Quinn humor and banter! Maple is a passionate flamingo keeper at the San Francisco Zoo when her life is upended for a PR stunt. A few of the local pro teams picked players to help at the zoo for good PR and she’s saddled with Graydon. He’s as stoic and grumpy as they come and thinks this whole project is a ridiculous waste of time.
Safe to say these two do NOT get off to a good start. Maple is trying to show him the importance of caring for these creatures and Graydon resists in every possible way. In an attempt to turn things around, Maple suggests an arrangement where she’ll try to learn about and play his sport in exchange for his cooperation with the flamingos.
This idea takes off with the public and suddenly Maple and Graydon are thrust into a PR relationship too. But the animosity between them is gone, replaced with a simmering desire. Except being in the public eye means all sorts of pressure and problems…
There were so many elements of this story I adored! Graydon brings Maple out of her shell when they’re together and results is some amazing spicy scenes! Once they got to know each other, they really brought out the best in each other. I also loved the group chat that formed between the 3 athletes involved at the zoo. They were hilarious!! The perfect side story that played an important role in Graydon’s life. Don’t miss out on a great time and check this out now! | 4.5 Stars | Buy From Amazon
If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia
I first came across this book back in the fall when it was included on many “best books for your fall TBR” lists! I didn’t get around to reading it back then, but I’m so glad I didn’t let it pass by. This is a quintessential, nostalgic small town romance that yes, is perfect for the fall but can be enjoyed any time of year!
Michelle is holding down the fort at her late parent’s B&B for a few months until her sister can take over the business for good. She has no plans to stick around or get invested, but after a rocky start she realizes she needs some help. A few less than stellar reviews leave her reeling and she reluctantly agrees to let the single dad next door and friendly townsfolk turn things around.
I adored the slow slow burn between Michelle and Cliff, plus the fact that this is set in the 90s is a refreshing change from modern romance! It’s a step back in time and an incredibly enjoyable story about a woman realizing what she truly wants out of life. | 4.5 Stars | Buy From Amazon
Gild by Raven Kennedy
Gild is a romantasy spin on the tale of King Midas and focuses on Auren, a girl who has been turned into a living, golden display of the king’s power. She is his Favored, but to keep her safe he now keeps her in a complicated, gilded cage in his palace.
Auren and the king have a long history and she loves him dearly, but she recognizes this life is not what she wants. The story really started to pick up in the final third when a journey is interrupted and Auren finds herself in an unexpected, dangerous situation. It definitely felt like this book was setting up the rest of the series. There wasn’t a whole lot that happened? I love the idea of this story but was hoping for more action! | 3 Stars | Buy From Amazon
eBooks:
First and Forever by Lynn Painter
A completely unexpected five star sports romance! I’ve read and loved Lynn Painter’s other adult romances, but this one easily jumps to the top. I was cracking up throughout the whole book and absolutely swooning over the unlikely connection between the main characters. (I also may be biased because the female main character is an accountant, just like me!)
A football player looking to help the team with a positive PR stunt agrees to go on the news to clear the air with a fan who got into a tussle with the team’s mascot. Their banter is unexpectedly delightful when she isn’t afraid to call him out on a dropped pass, and he ends up sort of asking her on a date on live TV.
She’s shocked he would actually be interested, but after spending some time together they both realize the slightly ridiculous start to their relationship may have uncovered the one person they’re meant to be with! There are also so many incredible side characters in this story, that make this an extremely well rounded novel and a blast to read start to finish! ! 5 Stars | Buy From Amazon
We Burned So Bright by T.J. Klune
I had high hopes since I’ve adored everything else by TJ Klune, but this wasn’t for me. The plot hooked me at first – a story of two husbands who set off on a road trip with a month left before the world ends due to a rogue black hole. Instead of a poignant reflection on their life together and unique interactions with those they met along the way, it felt very disjointed and overly preachy.
I agree with the messages Klune is trying to send in this book but they weren’t woven into the story, they just hit you over the head. Also the side characters they met felt brief and non impactful. I was hoping for more – literally I think more pages and more character development would have turned this into a fantastic full length novel! | 3 Stars | Buy From Amazon
