Basic Kindle – $110 Regular Price

The cheapest Kindle is also the smallest and most lightweight. So, if you use your Kindle on the go often, this could be the best device for you! There is a glare-free display and up to 6 weeks of battery on a single charge.  It currently comes in a Matcha green and Black color. It also has 16 GB of storage. Kindle Paperwhite – $160 Regular Price

Next up on the pricing scale is the Kindle Paperwhite. This features Amazon’s signature paperwhite screen, which mimics the look and feel of actual book pages. It also has the ability to dim or brighten for any situation. It’s the perfect device for eReading without the bells and whistles!

The available colors are Black, Jade green, and Raspberry pink. This version also has 20% faster page turns than previous Paperwhites. Kindle Colorsoft – $280 Regular Price

Brand new in 2024, this was a revolutionary Kindle since it was the first one to feature color! However, the rollout didn’t quite go as planned. While plenty of readers loved seeing their book covers in color, there were also plenty of complaints. Minor issues such as ghost text from prior pages and a yellow tint near the bottom of the screen affected some users’ experience.

There is currently a note on the Amazon page about the yellow tint – they say if you receive a device that has that issue, you can receive a replacement for free! So, newer versions have fixed that problem.

In general, the Colorsoft has all the same features as the Paperwhite, plus the addition of color. In addition to the book covers showing up as they are meant to be seen, you can also add colorful highlights within the text of a book in yellow, orange, blue and pink!

A single charge of this device only lasts 8 weeks as compared to the 12 weeks of the Paperwhite. It is also waterproof, but has double the storage at 32 GB! | Buy From Amazon

This is the top of the line for serious eBook readers who also want the functionality of a notebook. It is truly remarkable, with the ability to highlight and make notes within the pages of a book as you read. My Recommended Kindle

There are a variety of options, but I prefer the somewhat simple Kindle Paperwhite. It has all the features I need at a reasonable price. Plus, the battery lasts insanely long which is most important to me when I’m reading in bed or at the beach and don’t have a charger handy!

 

 

Kindle Tips / Hacks

• Put your Kindle on airplane mode to save battery after you have downloaded your book(s). This simple setting can extend your battery life so you can go even longer between charges!
• If you’re truly desperate for a longer battery, adjust the screen brightness as well! The brighter the screen, the more battery life it will use. So having it even a little lower will make your battery charge last longer.
