kingdom

This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews

I saw someone describe this as Game of Thrones meets Outlander and that’s honestly the perfect mashup for this fascinating fantasy! It’s got the political scheming and detailed world building of an epic fantasy with a modern day female main character and a hint of the banter and romance we love from romantasy books!

Maggie wakes up sopping wet and cold in an unfamiliar place and quickly realizes she has somehow been transported INTO the world of her favorite fantasy series. Sounds amazing right? Except she has no money, no connections, and no idea how to even survive the night. As she quickly discovers though, she can be killed but cannot die. The one tool Maggie has is an intricate knowledge of this world… As she builds her own little network using her insights from the books, Maggie vows to save this city from an upcoming horrible event and plots to take down the future tyrant.

I was completely engrossed in this story!! The concept itself was so unique – I mean who doesn’t want to live in their favorite book!? But the actual logistics are impossibly hard to navigate and being a woman in a medieval like society is just a pain 😂 I loved her “modern woman tries to figure out society” moments which added plenty of humor and relatability to the story.

The plot is also intricate and walks a perfect line between being difficult to follow and too simple. I highly recommend this for any fantasy or romantasy fans!! I can’t wait for her story to continue! 5 Stars | Buy From Amazon

last page

The Last Page by Katie Holt

If you love books set in bookstores, you need to try this one! The Last Page by Katie Holt seems heavily inspired by iconic NYC bookstores and those readers who adore them. In this romance, The Last Page has been a part of Ella’s life since she was little and she’s been working there for years, being taught by the owner how to run the store. Except, when he passes away the store is given to his grandson instead of her.

Henry shows up with no intention of handing her the reigns as owner, despite the fact that he hasn’t stepped foot inside since he was a kid. He wasn’t expecting to play the villain – he just wants to return to his Kentucky home and let the store continue as it has been with his oversight. Until they both realize the deep financial trouble the bookstore is facing…

Ella and Henry know the only way to save the store is to work together, but the animosity and annoying underlying attraction keeps getting in the way!

Grab this now and enjoy a delightful bookstore based romance with enemies to lovers and NYC charm!.  4 Stars | Buy From Amazon

A Sprinkle of Sweet Serendipity by Rachel Linden

I just finished listening on audio and fell in love with this charming and oh so slightly magical foodie romance.

Quick summary – all the women in Emmie’s family are given a vision on one of their birthdays that will show them their true purpose in life. As a single mom trying to keep her family’s fudge shop afloat, Emmie has been waiting 34 years for hers. When it finally happens, it seems too good to be true. Her celebrity crush, the chocolate shop of her dreams!?

But as the weeks and months unfold afterward, more and more parts of this vision seem to be coming true. Except her pesky childhood friend, Jakub, is back in town and forcing her to question whether she actually wants what she was shown…

I adored the focus on life in a small town and how they banded together to help each other out while facing hardship. Plus Emmie trying to decide between a safe, nice option and a longtime love who stole her heart was fun to watch play out! Add in all the talk of fudge and chocolates and it completely won me over!! | 4.5 Stars | Buy From Amazon

The Rainy Day Bookshop by RaeAnne Thayne

Here’s another option for books set in bookstores or romances with both a mother and daughter getting a chance at love.

Emma returns home with her 3 year old daughter to temporarily help her mother run the family bookstore. The town holds painful memories of her father and her rough past from her teenage years. But she’s hoping to start repairing the relationship with her mom and get a fresh start. Rosie couldn’t be happier to have her daughter and granddaughter with her again, but when a famous author moves into town she’s left confused by growing feelings for him!

Both women learn to open their hearts to unexpected love and finally begin truly healing from their past. I enjoyed this a lot! It’s heartwarming and real and full of hope and love.  4 Stars | Buy From Amazon

eBooks:

In Your Dreams by Sara Adams

Sara Adams fans have been waiting for this story for ages! After reading all about the bickering between Madison and James in prior books, we finally get to read their love story! Don’t worry though, this can very easily be read as a standalone if you’re new to this author. You’ll fall in love!

James has carried a torch for Madison for ages, but as his best friend’s sister, she’s always just been someone he treats like a little sister. When she calls one night though, he sees an opportunity to give her the fresh start she needs… as head chef of a restaurant he’ll open on his farm. Madison is desperate to get away from the NYC food scene and her traumatic experience there that wrecked her self confidence.

It turns out James might be exactly the person she needs to become whole again. There’s so much history between these two, so I loved the melding of their past and present as they discovered a new side to their relationship.  4.5 Stars | Buy From Amazon

Things I’m Loving Lately:

Copper Flower Charm – If you want fresh flowers to last longer, all you need is this little copper charm! You just drop it in the water and my flowers still look gorgeous after weeks. The copper helps keep bacteria from affecting the stems!

Baseboard Buddy – This simple tool makes cleaning your baseboards and doorways so much easier! No more crawling on hands and knees or completely ignoring them.

50 SPF Face Sunscreen – One of the best things you can do to keep your face looking younger is wearing sunscreen. Most facial sunscreens don’t have a lot of protection, which is why I love that this one from Supergoop is 50 SPF! A single tube will last you all summer long, so it’s a great investment.
