Chocolate Cake Rounds
  1. Cream together sugar, egg and shortening in a mixer.
  2. Add cocoa mixed with hot water.
  3. Alternate flour, soda, salt with the buttermilk.
  4. Add the vanilla. Mix until well combined.
  5. Drop by spoonful on a greased and floured cookie sheet
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
Icing
  1. Mix together all ingredients. Add more powdered sugar or milk to reach desired consistency.
  2. Match similar size cake rounds and fill with icing.
Recipe Notes

*If you don’t have buttermilk, add 1/2 tsp of vinegar or lime juice to regular milk.
