October Romance New Releases
The sequel to Lynn Painter’s teen hit, Better Than The Movies, picks up with Wes and Liz in college… and no longer together. A tragedy left Wes reeling over the summer and in the midst of dealing with it, he broke Liz’s heart.
Now he’s desperate to win her back. Things have settled down, but they’re also adjusting to college life. He knows her better than anyone, so he’s confident that he’ll be able to convince her to give their relationship another shot, but winning her over is harder than he ever expected. I can’t wait to get more Wes and Liz! | Buy From Amazon
Best Hex Ever by Nadia El-Fassi
Baking + Witches? How fun does that sound? Dina is a witch skilled in the kitchen and she uses her magical abilities to run her own cafe in London, infusing her treats with her special skills. Due to a hex on her though, she can succeed in business but not romance.
This wasn’t ever really a problem until the weekend of her best friend’s wedding, when her duties as Maid of Honor place her in constant contact with the Best Man, who she can’t deny she’s falling for. She’ll have to figure out how to lift this hex to ensure the man she loves doesn’t get cursed. Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target
Catch and Keep by Erin Hahn
My favorite trope – Friends to Lovers – is featured in this new release! Maren is ready for a change after turning down her boyfriend’s proposal and leaving behind her job. She escapes to Wisconsin to take over her family’s decrepit baitshop.
There she connects with local single dad, Josiah and the two fall into an easy friendship. Taking things to the next level seems almost too simple, but maybe the love they need is supposed to be this easy. | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target

Book Of The Month by Jennifer Probst
A bookish romance that you’ll love if you’re like me and adore books about books! Our main character is a writer who recently published a bestseller that drew inspiration from a previous heartbreak.
Now she’s stuck attempting to recreate that success, but she has no experiences to draw on. Enter Brick Babel, the town scoundrel who will be the perfect person to break her heart and give her more material. Unfortunately, Brick isn’t falling for her schemes so she makes him a deal that will benefit him as well.
The lines between contractual duty and actual romance quickly blur, leaving Aspen to wonder whether it’s worth giving up a chance at happy ever after in pursuit of another literary success. I’m always interested in books set in the world of writing/publishing, so I can’t wait for this one! Buy From Amazon
The Striker by Ana Huang
I have been desperately waiting to get my hands on this novel since it was first announced! I adore Ana Huang’s steamy romances so her foray into a soccer romance should be a thrill!
Dive into the world of rich and famous with Asher and Scarlett. Asher is one of the best footballers in the world, but his temper and rivalry with a teammate resulted in a summer-long training session. Led by none other than his enemy’s sister.
Scarlett is 1000% off limits, but he fell hard and now he’ll do whatever it takes to win her over. Ana Huang’s romances always have a bit of a morally grey love interest, which I just adore. Asher sounds like he’ll be another fascinating addition to her lineup! | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target
Mystery/Thriller New Releases
The Last One At The Wedding by Jason Rekulak
I finished this recently and thought it was an excellent slow burn thriller! Frank’s daughter is getting married to the son of a CEO. Maggie and Frank had a falling out years ago so he’s just grateful to be back in her life, but quickly realizes something is off with this family. Maggie brushes off his fears and he decides to turn a blind eye to the evidence growing that this family may be hiding extremely dark secrets.
Over the course of the wedding weekend, Frank discovers that a young woman went missing who was previously connected to Maggie’s fiancé. The family swears they had nothing to do with her disappearance, but Frank isn’t convinced. He starts digging into their past and tries to convince Maggie that she’s making a huge mistake.
This was a slow burn as the reader discovers information and evidence along with Frank – never quite knowing who we can trust and who’s really behind the shady actions. You can clearly tell something is very wrong with these people, but I didn’t know whether the uneasy feelings were coming as a result of the fiancé, the parents, or something going on with the company. There were a few red herrings and it led up to a riveting final few chapters. | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target
Society of Lies by Lauren Ling Brown
Maya is heading back to her alma mater for both her 10 year reunion and her sister’s graduation. However, when she arrives at Princeton she discovers her sister is dead. The school ruled it an accident, but Maya knows her sister was a part of a secret society and she suspects they may be involved.
Now, Maya’s left uncovering the truth but her own time at the school is coming back to haunt her. This was selected as the Reese’s Book Club pick for October, so I can’t wait to start it! | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target
Fantasy New Releases
This Will Be Fun by E.B. Asher
Fun fact – This book is actually written by a trio of familiar authors! E.B. Asher as a pen name comprises Bridget Morrissey, Emily Wibberley, and Austin Siegemund-Broka. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this collaboration.
It’s a cozy fantasy about three former friends who are reunited for one last quest. In the past ten years, they’ve each been dealing with their own internal demons but try to rekindle the magic they used to feel.
Compared to other cozy fantasies like Legends & Lattes, this just fell a bit flat. It tried too hard to be a modern story set in a fantasy world and the whole quest plot felt like an afterthought. Sadly it was missing a lot of the heart of other cozy fantasies I’ve read! | Buy From Amazon
General Fiction New Releases
What Does It Feel Like by Sophie Kinsella
In her most meaningful and personal story to date, Sophie draws on her own personal experiences with a medical scare to write about a novelist who wakes up in a hospital and discovers she’s had surgery to remove a large malignant tumor on her brain.
Life as she knew it is gone and she must face the reality of relearning to walk, talk, and live. Along the way, she rediscovers the simple joys we all take for granted. I am a devoted Sophie Kinsella fan and am looking forward to her perspective on this situation. She always fills her stories with joy and hope. | Buy From Amazon | Buy From Target
