Till Summer Do Us Part by Meghan Quinn: Book Review

Head to an adult summer camp in this spicy romance!

One of my favorite authors, Meghan Quinn, has a new book perfect for summer! Till Summer Do Us Part is the spicy rom-com you need to add to your TBR.

Till Summer Do Us Part Book Summary:

The premise is admittedly a little off the wall, but I promise it works! Scottie is trying to fit in with her married coworkers when she claims that she’s also coupled up, but going through some problems with her husband. Her boss jumps to “rescue” by offering an appointment with her partner, a couples counselor…

Now desperate to find a man, Scottie turns to her best friend’s brother who loves improv and happily accepts the assignment. Wilder sold an app he created and has lots of time on his hands, so he’s always looking for his next adventure. However, he gets a little too involved during their counseling session and gets them invited to a week long couples camp.

Scottie and Wilder hope they can just fake their problems early on and pretend to reconcile by the end of the camp. As the days stretch on though, Scottie finds herself being forced to face her demons from her actual previous failed marriage – struggling with Wilder’s attention and ultimate attraction to her. Wilder convinces her to use the therapy sessions to finally heal from the wounds caused by her previous husband and finds he wants to show her just how much love she deserves.

Tropes:

  • Fake Marriage
  • Best Friend’s Brother
  • Forced Proximity

Steam Rating:

3.5 / 5 – A few steamy scenes and plenty of discussion of sex, but it’s more a source of adult humor and the few explicit scenes are not the main focus of the story

One Sentence Recap:

A spicy summer romance with a whole lot of heart.

My Full Thoughts:

Meghan does an incredible job layering lighthearted and hilarious moments alongside deeper, meaningful ones. Wilder and Scottie’s performance as they try to pick fights is laugh out loud funny. Plus, the “adult” aspects of the camp provide plenty of ridiculous moments as they try to pretend to be in a relationship.

However, the therapy sessions and moments when it’s just the two of them are very real. The issues that Scottie is dealing with are incredibly relatable – the small scars from a relationship full of loneliness and feeling like she’s not desirable or worthy of attention. I loved how Wilder continuously showed her how she should be treated instead.

It was so satisfying seeing how Scottie came to trust Wilder and believe his feelings for her. He was so good for her and they grew from strangers to the best possible couple.

This novel has a powerful message but still manages to be lighthearted enough for a summer romance!

Final Rating: 4.5 Stars!
