September Romance New Releases

pitcher

Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey

I had a blast reading this sports romance and I’m obsessed with the softball hearts on the sprayed edges! I don’t know how Tessa keeps writing books in this series that get better and better but this one may be my new favorite!? Robbie meets Skylar when his hockey teammates face off against a group of baseball players and let’s just say they don’t get off to a good start.

But Skylar needs help getting the attention of her crush, her brother’s best friend, so she brings Robbie along to an annual family competition to give her advice and pretend to be her boyfriend to make the guy jealous. It’s classic Tessa, with all sorts of sarcastic banter and a man who is down BAD for his girl. Robbie tries to keep his distance but falls hard and fast. It was a little ridiculous that Robbie went from the biggest player in the league to being ready to settle down with one girl in a matter of weeks, but I loved going along with it anyway

Hot Desk by Laura Dickerman

This one is both a workplace romance and a generational story about women working in the publishing industry! A mid level editor at a NYC publishing house finds herself sharing a desk with another editor on alternating days. Rebecca and Ben quickly descend from mild tension into passive-aggressive sabotage.

Their rivalry heats up when a literary legend dies, and both scramble to secure the rights to his unpublished work. Rebecca’s candidacy is elevated when she’s contacted by his widow, Rose, whom she later discovers was once the best friend of her own mother, Jane. Meanwhile, Ben has connections to the Lion’s son, Atticus, giving them both a personal connection.

The narrative then shifts back to 1982, revealing the younger Jane and Rose as ambitious interns in the literary world. Their friendship unfolds during a glamorous yet gritty era of New York publishing, culminating in a life-altering moment during an April blizzard. The dual timelines explore intergenerational legacy, the challenges faced by women in publishing, and how past choices reverberate through present ambitions. As Rebecca and Ben’s professional rivalry softens into something more, we revert back to a more typical workplace romance. | Buy From Amazon

People Watching by Hannah Bonam – Young

I’m obsessed with this cover, especially for the fall! I should have included it on my Fall Reading List post! The main character in this one is someone a lot of us can probably relate to. She’s an introvert who’s quite content with her small town life and the routines she’s built. All that is shaken up when a restless wanderer ends up in her town.

Prue’s life is full of predictability and control, a necessity since she’s started caring for her mother, who has early-onset Alzheimer’s. As her mother’s condition worsens though and her father starts expressing concern for Prue, she starts feeling her carefully scheduled world shift. Then Milo rolls into town. He’s a typical nomad down to a beat-up van and a brooding past. Prue and Milo form an unexpected bond fueled by their contrasting lives: one rooted, the other untethered.

Their friendship evolves into a “wild and sexy agreement,” when Prue asks Milo to teach her about intimacy and Milo finds himself drawn to her stability and kindness. As they push each other’s boundaries and grow closer, their arrangement deepens into an emotional connection neither expected.  | Buy From Amazon

Mystery/Thriller New Releases

The Wasp Trap

I have about 100 pages left in this book as I’m writing this blog post and it’s been hard to put down! I was on the hunt for a fast-paced, intense thriller and this is delivering! Six former coworkers are gathered together for a dinner party after not seeing each other for years. What starts out awkward, but innocent turns into a dangerous situation when they’re taken hostage and people start dying.

Their attackers are looking for a secret to be revealed from the summer they spent together working on a dating app, but their side project developing a test that could identify a psychopath could be the true culprit. Now they must give up the secret or continue voting to determine who’s going to die next…

The tension keeps developing as we jump back and forth between present day and the past, while the events of that summer are slowly revealed! There’s enough action alongside the story development to keep my attention locked in on this thriller. | Buy From Amazon

No Rest For The Wicked by

A murder mystery / thriller that takes place in a Halloween obsessed town? Absolutely a must read this time of year! A forensic pathologist returns home after her father goes missing. As a former U.S. Senator, his disappearance makes waves and his last words to her were “Trust No One.”

Now, Dolores must unravel clues about her father’s disappearance, confront painful family estrangements and resurface buried traumas in a town where everyone has something to hide. On top of this, the town has a long history of brutal deaths tied to it’s Halloween celebrations…and October 31st is right around the corner. This is a debut novel, but it’s received rave early reviews! I love that she’s leaning in to the eerie, Halloween theme and giving readers a twisty, spooky mystery. | Buy From Amazon

All This Could Be Yours by Hank Phillippi Ryan

A thriller set in the world of writers / publishing sounds incredible! Author Tessa Calloway is on a packed house book tour for her bestseller called, All This Could Be Yours. She’s adored by her fans and her husband and children follow along, cheering her on from their dream house.

As the tour continues though, Tessa realizes she’s being stalked by someone who not only wants to ruin her career, but also wants to ruin her family. Now, she’s involved in a cat and mouse games with the highest of stakes. Every decision has an impact and a deal she made a long time ago may be coming back to haunt her.

I’m always interested in books set in the publishing world, so I’m hoping this darker behind the scenes glimpse of the life of a writer lives up to expectations! | Buy From Amazon

Fantasy New Releases

wild reverence

Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross

Wild Reverence is set in the richly imagined universe of Divine Rivals, acting as both a standalone adult romantasy and a heartfelt prequel that deepens the lore of Ross’s world. The novel follows Matilda, the youngest goddess of her clan, born in the firelit under realm and blessed with modest yet vital messenger magic, a power that allows her to traverse realms delivering messages. Navigating the brutal politics of gods where alliances shift and betrayals are deadly, Matilda hides a dangerous secret, one that even her closest allies must never discover.

Meanwhile, Vincent of Beckett, now a hardened mortal lord, is haunted by a goddess he once communed with through dreams. Ten years ago, he implored her for aid during his darkest hour, only to receive no answer. That changes abruptly when Matilda appears at his window bearing a crucial letter. Their reunion forces both divine and mortal to confront fate, their vulnerabilities, and whether love can transcend the perilous chasm between their worlds. | Buy Deluxe Edition From Amazon
