50 TBR Jar Prompts: The Ultimate List!
The Ultimate List of TBR Jar Prompts
A TBR (To Be Read) Jar is a fun way to pick the next book you read. It’s an extremely simple concept and very easy to create. Simply find a jar (or something similar) and write out reading prompts on slips of paper. Then mix up all the slips in the jar.
When you’re ready to pick a new book to read, pull out one of the slips of paper and pick a book that fits the theme!
Etsy has a number of adorable TBR Jars if you want a cute option to put on your bookshelf or desk. You can get the whole jar or just a decal to add to your own mason jar.
Many readers find the hardest part of creating a TBR jar is thinking of topics to write on the slips of paper. That’s where I come in! I’m here to help with a huge list of prompts!
You can choose how many you want to include in your jar, so pick however many you want from my list below.

Love this list! I have a TBR jar but haven’t decided how to use this. I like this idea to leave my picks broader instead of picking a title from the jar.
i trying to get back intto reading so i though this might be a fun way to do that
I used almost all of this list for my own, while even including some of my own – I still feel like I need more prompts!
Some of the ones I came up with are
A book that is signed by the author
A Book You’ve Sampled Before Buying (say you read a sample on Goodreads or Apple Books)
A Book About A Dog or Has A Dog In the Story
Choose a Tarot Card; the Suit/Trope Determines the Book to Read
