Everything You Need To Know About Amazon’s New Lineup Of Kindles

Today I’m sharing some exciting bookish news! Amazon releasted a new collection of Kindles, including a Color version!!

I’m going to break down everything you need to know about each of the new Kindle options, so you can decide which one is best for you or if you need to upgrade.

I want to quickly point out a Kindle tip that will help save you money – on any of these new Kindles, you can trade in ANY Amazon device (like your old Kindle or an Amazon Echo Dot or something similar) and get 20% off! That’s a huge savings if you’re upgrading or have an old Amazon device you no longer use.

Disclosure – I earn a small commission for any products purchased through the links below at no extra cost to you. Thank you for supporting this book blog!

The Kindle Colorsoft

Let’s start with the  most exciting new edition – the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft. For years, readers have been begging for the ability to read in color and see book covers the way they’re meant to be viewed! Amazon has finally delivered.

This new Kindle features full color, so you can see colorful book covers as well as pictures from magazines and graphics from graphic novels in exact color. You’ll also have the ability to highlight in blue, pink, yellow, and orange!

The 7inch display will also adjust for regular book pages. the color will mimic the page of a book so you’ll have a reading experience similar to the Kindles we’re used to. Let’s talk battery life – right out of the gate you’re getting up to 8 WEEKS of battery life on a single charge.

The display will also auto adjust to your settings, so you can read in bright sunlight or in a dark room at night. It is also water proof, so there’s no worry if you drop it in the bath or get it wet at the ocean.

This will be a great option for you if you’re dying to see book covers in color, if you read a lot of graphic novels or browse through magazines. Get It Here!  The bundle is currently on sale, so you get a deal on the actual device PLUS a case!

kindle paperwhite

The New Kindle Paperwhite

The Kindle Paperwhite also got an upgrade! The Paperwhite is the Kindle I personally use and I adore it. It’s perfectly priced for the features I need without any extras that I don’t want to pay for. = Show mine and the cover!

The upgraded Paperwhite that’s now available was designed to have an even longer battery life and lightning fast speed. Meaning there’s no delay while turning pages or scrolling through books in your library! They improved the performance by 20%, which will be a noticeable difference for those of us used to using a Kindle.

The battery life has also improved to a whopping 12 weeks on a single charge. That means you’d only have to charge your Kindle 4 times a YEAR!

As always, you can still adjust the light settings for any reading environment and you get the same waterproof benefits as the Kindle Colorsoft.

This is still my recommendation for every reader. The price tag makes sense and you get the battery life you’ll need as well as page-like reading experience. Get It Here!

basic kindle

The New Basic Amazon Kindle

Lowest on the pricing scale is the basic Amazon Kindle. This also received a minor upgrade and it’s the lowest cost option for those of you looking to save money!

This Kindle has less storage space and a battery life of only 6 weeks, which is half of the Kindle paperwhite. It also has a smaller screen then the other two at only 6 inches. You’ll have to be more careful around water as well, since this doesn’t have the waterproof feature.

With all that said, if you don’t mind charging and don’t need the extra features, this Kindle is typically $40-$50 cheaper than the Paperwhite so you can save a good amount if you’re just looking for a portable eReader!

I also really like the new color they’re offering for this specific Kindle – a matcha green. It’s so pretty!! Get It Here!

kindle scribe

The Upgraded Kindle Scribe

One last Kindle I have to mention, although honestly I don’t really recommend this for everyone because it’s astonishingly expensive, is the Kindle Scribe. This received a refresh as well.

The Kindle Scribe is meant to be a Kindle and a notebook in one, with the ability to handwrite meeting notes, create to do lists, doodle, and journal on one device.

The upgraded scribe now includes a flush front display with all around white borders and a redesigned pen so it feels like you’re writing on paper. The one feature I think is neat is the ability to write directly in books, so if you’re constantly making notes in the books you read or doodling in the margins, this could be a really fun option for you.

It can also serve as a great tablet to carry around with you everywhere, if you need the ability to easily cross check lists, make notes on the go, or other things like that. Get It Here!

Hopefully that was a helpful introduction to the new lineup of Kindles! I’m particularly excited about the insane battery life on the Paperwhite and might upgrade mine soon.

I also can’t wait to see the Colorsoft’s out in the wild and hear what people think of them!
