What I’m Loving Lately – May 2016
May was a ridiculously busy month, so we’re looking forward to a more relaxing June : ) Here’s what I was loving last month. Check out other posts in the linkup on Leigh Kramer‘s blog!
TV Shows
Veep – Jay started watching this on one of his business trips and raved about how funny it was. After watching an episode I was hooked too. We binge watched for about two weeks this month!
Movies
Captain America: Civil War – I’m still not sure I like the fact that the Avengers are fighting against each other. They’re friends! Stop it! Regardless, it was an entertaining movie and perfect for a summer blockbuster.
Fury – When this came out in 2014, I refused to see it because we heard it was pretty gory and intense. Jay bought it on Blu-Ray instead and we finally watched it last week. Wow. It follows a group of men who drive a tank during the last months of WWII. The film actually shows what I’m assuming is the real side of war – the raw emotions, tough decisions, and camaraderie without any of the over top glorification that so many other war movies include. I was an emotional mess by the end, sobbing on the couch, but I loved it. Certain scenes and themes have stayed with me and I still feel like I’m processing what I watched a week later.
Monster’s Inc – A classic Pixar film that I can watch over and over again : )

Events/Activities
Getting Engaged!!! – This is pretty obvious choice for one of my favorite things in May : ) Jay proposed on the first night we were in Paris – perfectly sweet and romantic.
London & Paris Trip – A close second was the trip overall. Even without the excitement of getting engaged, it would have been one of my favorite vacations.
Phillies Game – A couple from our bible study invited us to a Phillies game and we ended up sitting 15 rows behind home plate!!
Wedding reception site visits – We jumped right into wedding planning when we got back from our trip and lined up six visits within two weeks. Amazingly, we fell in love with the second place and cancelled all but one other visit. Well, we ended up loving the third place even more! We’ll be having our reception in a gorgeous room with huge windows that overlook a mountain and valley.
Dorney Park – I snagged discount tickets for Dorney Park from work, so we went on Memorial Day. Here’s a secret to avoiding crowds – go on a holiday. We’ve gone to amusement parks on a holiday three times now and it’s always been empty!
Memorial Day picnic – It’s become a bit of a tradition to head to our one friend’s house for a cookout over Memorial Day weekend. We always have a great time catching up with his family and our friends.
What I’m Loving
Book of the Month Club – I used a discount code to sign up for this subscription box and got three months for only $7.50 each. That price gets you one hardcover book shipped free to your house each month. I selected I Let You Go in May and I can’t stop reading! Also, how ironic that theme was “I said yes to BOTM” the same month I got engaged??
Wawa Burrito Bowls – We stopped by Wawa to pick up a quick dinner and I noticed burrito bowls were a new menu item. I was very impressed with the flavor and amount of ingredients included! This may take preference over my usual Italian hoagie : )
Snyder’s S’mores Pretzel Pieces – Holy moly these things are addicting. I keep buying them whenever they go on sale because it takes me approximately two days to eat the whole bag.
What were you loving in May?
