What I’m Loving Lately – May 2017

I’m getting married on Saturday!!!!! That is obviously the biggest news in my world and the biggest time consumer in May : ) After a year of planning, my to do list is finally complete and I’m just counting down the days. I did manage to sneak in a few non-wedding related fun this month, so check it out below! Also, I’m linking up with Leigh Kramer as usual.

 TV Shows

I couldn’t think of a single new show I watched this month?? Send suggestions!

Movies

Leon The Professional  – Jay’s tried to get me to watch this for three years and I finally caved. Well, of course, I loved it! The story is enthralling and the actors are just phenomenal in their roles.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Akzaban – I’m reading through the entire series again, so I wanted to watch the movies as I finish each book.  Favorite moments from this include the reveal of the real story about Sirius and Hermione’s use of the time turner to take more classes (because who wouldn’t if they were at a wizard school??)

StardustI read the book this month and absolutely loved it. However, as usual the movie didn’t quite live up to expectations. I’m a major nitpicker when it comes to differences between the book and the movie and this one had too many for my liking.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2I went in with slightly low expectations since the sequel is never as good as the original. Well, I was right. There were definitely some great jokes, but it was lacking on plot. Basically just a ton of action scenes thrown together.

Events/Activities

Dinners with Friends – May ended up being full of opportunities to spend evenings with our friends. It’s not always easy to get people together, but we love hanging out with them when we can. Although, by 11:30pm poker night isn’t nearly as much fun as when it started 3 hours earlier : ) Apparently I have about a two hour poker limit haha.

Home Projects – The makeovers continued in our house and outside this month. Jay finished building the bar in our family room and I planted tomatoes and peppers in our garden!

Library Book Sale – A coworker brought me along to a local library book sale early in May. We spent almost an hour browsing the rows of books and both bought quite a bunch! They had a huge selection of recent releases in great shape.

Parents Visit – Since Jay was in Italy for 10 days at the beginning of May, my parents came and kept me company one weekend. We obviously did a bunch of wedding prep, including setting up all my centerpieces. In addition, we visited some wonderful antique stores and I found lots of treasures for the house!

What I’m Loving

Amazon Prime Pantry – This month we used a $5 credit to get a free delivery from Amazon Prime Pantry. Although it’s not something I’d use regularly, there’s something to be said for groceries shipped directly to your door in two days. We scroll through the coupons and discounted items and end up with pretty good deals on staples.

Beachbody On Demand –  We paid $100 for a year subscription back in January and I couldn’t be happier with this service. I have unlimited access to tons and tons of workout videos. With the upcoming wedding, I decided to start an actual program in mid-May. So, for the past two weeks I’ve followed the T25 (love Shaun T) schedule. It’s amazing!! I only have to devote 25 minutes of my day and I’m seeing great results so far : )

Grilling – We received a new grill at the bridal shower and are using it at least 2-3 times a week ever since!! Everything seems to taste better when it’s grilled. Plus, I won’t go near it so Jay does all the cooking!

  1. Congratulations on the wedding, I hope it is amazing! I am rereading the Harry Potter books as well along with the Harry Potter and the Sacred Text podcast. I should rewatch the movies as well (even though they aren’t as good as the books and I don’t think I’ve seen past the fourth one)!
