Reading RoundUp #26
The inevitable has occurred. The honeymoon is over! I’m back at work this week, but still dreaming about all the gorgeous countries we visited on our trip. Along the way, I did a decent amount of reading. So, I have quite a few updates for you! Check out my current Friday Reading RoundUp below.
This week’s Reading Roundup!
Work Book (for lunch time reading):
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling – Without realizing it, I’m celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter book this year by rereading the entire series. Jay and I are also rewatching the movies as I finish the books. You can never have too much HP in your life : )
House Books:
The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena – This was listed on one of my favorite blogger’s (PBFingers) book lists. It’s not my usual type since it sounds like a mystery, but two coworkers raved about it as well.
My (Not So) Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella – Kinsella is one of my go-to summer beach read authors, so I was eager to get my hands on this one. Luckily Pennsylvania has an inter library loan system so my little library was able to snag it for me.
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss – From Amazon, “A long-lost book reappears, mysteriously connecting an old man searching for his son and a girl seeking a cure for her widowed mother’s loneliness.” It’s…different, but I’m curious how all the stories tie together so I’ll keep reading.
The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris by Jenny Colgan – I fell head over heels for Colgan after reading The Bookshop on the Corner. This was my second of hers and it was decent, but not quite as heartwarming and relatable as I’d hoped.
Kindle Books:
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith – I’m pretty sure I first heard about this book through Goodreads. It’s a series of entries written by a teenager about her experience with her family living in a run down castle. It’s still early, but her observations about their daily life are intriguing thus far.
From Around the Web:
List of Books About Books – By far my favorite category. Here are a few of Modern Mrs Darcy’s recommendations.
New Disney Must Try Foods – A combination of two of my favorite things!
Initial Reviews of Harry Potter – In celebration of the 20th anniversary, here is a collection of reviews when it was first published.
*Disclosure – I earn a small commission if you purchase any items through the links above. Thanks for supporting my reading habit!
I’m intrigued by your lunch reading! I’m guilty of just surfing the web while I scarf down my food. How much reading time do you usually get in?
I get an hour for lunch, so I’m usually reading the whole time! It’s a nice break from staring at my computer all day.
“I Capture the Castle” and “The History of Love” are two of my favorites!! Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
I reread the whole Harry Potter series 2 years ago, my first time in at least 5 and it was SO enjoyable! I need to make a habit of doing that every few years!!
I have been wanting to read Capture the Castle! I need to bump it up on my TBR list!
