What I’m Loving Lately – March 2020
It goes without saying that March was a wild month! It started out like any other month and ended in stay at home orders and panic-buying toilet paper!
We spent the first half of the month getting out and about like usual, including a wine tasting weekend. Then hunkered down for the long haul when everything started shutting down. We’re managing working from home and watching our one year old with some success??
I’m itching to get back to our usual routine, but I’ve been enjoying the chance to get outside and take a walk despite the weather. Whatever it takes to stay sane 🙂
Next month I may just skip a recap since there it would basically be a list of movies we watched and nothing else haha!!
Head over to See You In A Porridge for more monthly recaps from other bloggers.

TV Shows / Movies
Love is Blind – You guys, I totally jumped on this Netflix bandwagon. After The Bachelor ended, I needed a new terrible reality show and Love is Blind delivered!!! It’s…so bad. Yet, I can’t stop watching.
Cheers – Another Netflix find! We adore the old sitcoms and this one does not disappoint. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I think it’s hilarious. A perfect mix of witty lines and stupid humor.
Suicide Squad – This was our choice one night for a movie night. Margot Robbie and Will Smith definitely carried the movie. It was a little all over the place for me, but I enjoyed it for what it was. Maybe could’ve been half an hour less running time, though?
Terminator: Dark Fate – Another movie night selection. Still quite ridiculous (as all these movies are) but anything with Arnold is at least entertaining. He had a few classic Arnold one liners and the action aspect was certainly something. Just don’t think too hard about the storyline…
Books
Check out my latest reading roundup of March’s book recommendations! I’m currently reading:
My 4 & 5 star reads from March:
The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams – A unique take on the contemporary romance where the man is trying to win back his wife with the help of a romance reading men’s book club. | Amazon
The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver – A woman who’s fiance just died is given a chance to live her life with him when she takes certain sleeping pills. | Amazon
The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez – The sequel to The Friend Zone, starring Sloane and a cute musician who’s dog she finds. | Amazon
Events/Activities
Wine Trail Weekend – One of my Christmas gifts was a wine trail passport for the March Lehigh Valley Wine Trail event! Each of the member wineries created a special food and wine pairing. The passport let you visit all 8 wineries during the month of March. Well, we got one weekend!! We stopped at two local wineries and enjoyed their delicious wine and snacks.
Connor’s 1st Birthday – Thankfully we never had a big party planned for Connor’s 1st birthday at the end of March. I always wanted to be the one to make his smash cake, so I had plenty of time! The three of us celebrated together and Jay and I found it endlessly entertaining watching Connor tentatively explore his cake. He was not into it AT ALL. Literally shuddered when he tried a piece. Soooo, Connor got Cheerios and the parents got lots of cake 🙂
SO MANY WALKS – The weather hasn’t always been great, but I’m still getting out side every.single.day to take a walk. I love the chance to get out of the house and Connor seems to enjoy them too so win win!
First Flowers – Anything outdoors is capturing my attention these days, so I was beyond thrilled to see flowers from I don’t know where popping up in our beds!!! I’m also keeping an eye on my lilac bush, which may finally be starting to grow… two years after I planted it!
Things I’m Loving
Oh My Goods! Board Game – A recent addition to our board game collection. We played it a few weeks ago and I loved it! It’s easy to learn (which is very important in my book), doesn’t take long to play, and still features a healthy dose of strategy. Plus, it’s super cheap! | Amazon
Kettlebells – I’m trying to mix up my workouts a bit while I’m at home, so I started using our kettlebells more often! | Amazon
Favorite Blog Posts from March
24 Retellings of Classic Books – I adore adaptations of familiar stories, so I scoured the internet for the best retellings of a variety of classics. Included on this list are Peter Pan, Little Women, The Great Gatsby, Anna Karenina, and of course Jane Austen’s novels.
What were your highlights of March?
Here’s what I was loving in February!
I want to read Oona Out of Order.
The cake looks great.
Thank you!! It actually tasted pretty good too!
Aw, the cake looks great!
We did a bigger party for our toddler’s first birthday because we were living near family for the first and only time ever. He LOVED his smash cake and we had to pull it away before he ate the whole thing. This coming summer we’ll do just the 3 of us.
It’s so funny how most kids seem to LOVE the cake! I’m very confused why mine didn’t because I have an enormous sweet tooth. Too funny!
I’m no good at growing anything of any kind, but I love seeing others’ gardens! I’ve actually been to Clover Hill (I went to college in PA)- so glad you made it out there before the lockdown! That cake looks awesome- sorry to hear he wasn’t into it! Hopefully you got some good smash pics though?!
I listened to Oona and it was great on audio. I have What You Wish For coming up–I usually like Katherine Center on audio, but it will be my first time reading one of her books in print. I hope it works for me.
That cake is amazing! First birthday reactions are always so funny, no matter how it goes. Glad you’re surviving the quarantine!
