What I’m Loving Lately – October 2016
October is one of my favorite months of the year. The trees finally change colors here in Pennsylvania and the air is crisp and cool each morning. Plus, there’s something about the sound of leaves rustling on the ground floating through open windows that makes me so happy. As usual, October was jam packed with trips, visits with friends, and weekend activities. Once again, I’m linking up with Leigh Kramer to share my monthly favorites!
TV Shows
This Is Us – Fall shows are here!! I’m trying to juggle all the new episodes on Hulu and sneak in the one’s Jay doesn’t like whenever I can. It’s torture waiting a full week until the next episode is available. I’m used to binge-watching on Netflix. This show is often compared to Parenthood for good reason. It’s a family drama with the added wonderful element of flashbacks to the main characters’ childhood.
New Girl – This season is excellent, so far! I love Winston and Schmidt and they’re as hilarious as ever. Plus, I’m still rooting for Jess and Nick!!
John Mulaney’s Stand Up Comedy Specials – We’ve watched New Kid in Town and The Comeback Kid multiple times and still crack up at all his jokes. He tells simple life stories in such a hilarious way.
Movies
Mystery Men – We found this gem on Starz. It stars Ben Stiller in his early days and is a terrible but hilarious comedy about “super” heroes that try to save their city from an evil genius played by a young(er) Geoffrey Rush with an amazing accent.

Events/Activities
Philadelphia Food and Wine Festival – This our second year in a row at this delightful event full of wine, liquor, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Bite size versions of a huge variety of food are available to sample throughout the four hour session.
Food Tasting – At the end of the month we took our parents along to sample the food for our wedding reception! It was their first chance to see our reception location at Blue Mountain Ski Resort also. Despite the rainy weather, we still had a great time.
Wedding Registering – We visited Bed Bath & Beyond on a whim one Saturday to begin the registering process. Well, we ended up there almost three hours and only made it through half of the store! It was actually a lot of fun scanning whatever we wanted and dreaming how we’d use the items in our future.
San Francisco – For six days we explored San Francisco with my parents. It was our first time in this city, so we did all the expected attractions: Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Ghiradelli Square, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Pier 39. Keep an eye out for my trip recap coming up soon.
What I’m Loving
Ankle Boots – It took two months of searching before I finally found an affordable basic pair of ankle boots. I love them so much and wear them allll the time. They have a bit of a heel, but are still super comfortable.
Pure Leaf Tea Bags – At the Food & Wine Festival we discovered that the Pure Leaf company is now selling their tea in individual bags. The four varieties we tried were delicious and we snagged multiple free samples to continue to enjoy it at home : )
